Last night, the Equitrans’ shipped Arabian mare, ‘Lady Princess’ romped home to victory in the Group 1- 2,200 metre, five-million-Dirham, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

No stranger to success, the little five-year-old mare is also winner of the Group 1 Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood, The Qatar Derby, and the Amir Silver Sword’s.

Travelling Like a Super-Star

Equitrans shipping coordinator Zoe Neill who oversaw the movement from France, said, “she was an absolute dream to handle- from start to finish. She really knew her job and was perfect both on the truck and in-flight. It’s a real privilege to fly horses of this calibre and we always go over and above when it comes to ensuring everything is perfect for them. The team understand every detail counts, and by getting it right we allow them a stress-free and comfortable journey, which in turn ensures they can really give their all when it comes to race day.”

Ridden by Jim Crowley and trained in France by Thomas Fourcy for Qatari owner Khalifa bin Shaeil Al Kuwari, Lady Princess was chased home by stable companion Hoggar De L’Ardus in second place.

Fourcy said, “we thought we had two decent chances but to have first and second in such a valuable race on the international stage is more then we could have hoped for.”
“It was a great ride from Jim, and I am absolutely delighted with how my two horses have performed. What a result, both for our team and owners, as well as France!”

Equitrans managing director, David Robson said, “congratulations to Fourcy on his impressive double win, it’s a real coup for his yard, for France and of course, for Equitrans. The whole team is incredibly proud to be part of this result. We know we played a small but vital part in ensuring Fourcy’s horses arrived in top-condition and performance ready- and they proved to the world they truly were!”

“Equitrans also shipped third-place, Hayyan, with all horses departing from France earlier in the week. To have shipped all three, top-placed horses in the world’s most prestigious Arabian horse race is something the whole team at Equitrans will certainly not forget any time soon.”

Shipping Racing Champions

And Lady Princess is not alone when it comes to shipping with Equitrans immediately prior to winning the Jewel Crown. In fact, Equitrans is proud to be the official shipping partner of Jewel Crown winners back to 2015.

Messi winning the Jewel Crown in 2020

In 2020 the grey gelding Messi, was transported from Belgium with Equitrans, while Mashhur Al Khalediah arrived from France in 2019. In 2018 Equitrans shipped Al Shamoos, also from France, in 2017 Muraaqib won after shipping with Equitrans and in 2015 the winner Kalino also travelled with Equitrans.

In fact, the only horse to win the Jewel Crown, and not have been transported to the race with Equitrans was RB Burn in 2016, as the horse was already based in the UAE with trainer Eric Lemartinel in Abu Dhabi.

The HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown is the highlight of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Arabian Racing Festival. Launched in 2009, the festival remains the richest Arabian racing series in the world. Throughout the summer season races are hosted across Europe with the annual grand finale (the Jewel Crown) held in Abu Dhabi each winter.
