The podium at the Young and Junior Endurance Riders’ World Championships 2023 in Castelsagrat yesterday was dominated by the UAE and the GCC.
The 120km race saw first and second place go to the UAE, while third, fourth and sixth places went to Bahrain.
Rashed Ahmad Seghayer Al Keti took first place with M7’s Eddy De Montrozier in the tough 120km race with an average speed of 19.7Km/ph.
Team-mate, Rashed Mohammed Atiq Khamis Al Mehairi came second riding F3’s Castlebar Cadabra.
Bahraini rider, Isa Hameed Dakheel Al Anezi rode into third place on Ermine Dartagnan, with fellow Bahraini Abdulla Hasan Al Shaer Al Rowaie in fourth on Be Goode with both horses provided by Bahrain’s Victorious Stables.
The race saw 70 starters representing 25 countries attempt the 120km four loop race. In total, 37 riders finished while 33 were eliminated, over half of those being with irregular gait.
This is the fourth consecutive Junior and Young Rider Championship event in which the UAE has taken the top spot, with wins in 2017, 2019, 2021 and now 2023.
